David Kirby’s Latest Horror Story
Last night I was over at my mother’s house to celebrate her birthday with our family. At one point I walked past my phone and heard the email chime go off. I was going to ignore the chime, we were celebrating after all; but, I decided to just do a quick check.
I felt that now familiar jolt of excitement when I noticed the email was a Huffington Post blogger alert… David Kirby had just posted a new piece. My iPhone didn’t pull up the entire email, but I did see the title, “Up to 1-in-50 Troops Seriously Injured… By Vaccines?” My “quick” check ended up consisting of me sneaking off to a quiet corner to get my DK fix. And I knew, by the title, this was going to be one hell of a fix.
Sure enough, I was raging by the time I was halfway through the article. I was thinking about calling Angela Warner (AutismSalutes.com)… but decided to do that today (Ang, I’ll try to call later). I kept thinking about a piece she recently wrote, which you can read by clicking HERE.
I then started thinking about how many times my mother and I have had the vaccines/military dependents/autism converstation. It is of special interest to us as we are a military family (my father and step-father are both retired Air Force pilots, and my brother is a pilot in the National Guard).
I was thinking about a day, 35 or so years ago, when my siblings and I (as well as our mother) had to have vaccines in order to travel to Germany (where my father was stationed). I was just a little girl – elementary school – maybe 6 years old and I still remember the shots we had to get, how sick we were (oddly, it is my only memory of vaccines in my childhood – which I’m sure is because I only had a handful compared to the long list our kids get today). I’m turning 41 this year. I remember very little of my life prior to age 12; but I remember those damned shots. As a matter of fact, I’m quite certain I’ll never forget.
Back to last night: When I had finished reading Mr. Kirby’s latest HuffPo piece, I had to sit down. I had to process what I had just read. Vaccines and the troops; Dr. Jenkins Good Morning America comments about our kids having “defects”; and new information (new to me anyway) that connects a few more of those dots and makes the picture of what is going on a hell of a lot more clear.
Like a scene from a movie, I looked into my mother’s kitchen and watched as the family stood around her center island laughing, in what appeared to be slow motion. I honed in on my brother, who, like I said, is a pilot in the National Guard. I watched as he entertained the family (as usual) with something humorous. I thought about how many times he has been, and will continue to be, sent over to a very hot place with lots of sand, not to mention all of the other trips to other countries, and I thought about how many times he’s been jabbed.
Then I looked over at his adorable wife, who is 12 weeks away from giving birth to their first baby, a little girl. She was laughing and shaking her head in dismay at my brother (God only knows what he was saying – I do know it was probably hilarious).
I then looked at my sister, who, only days before, had been implanted with three embryos (she and her husband are trying to have a baby – their second). She had been feeling tired and sick most of the day… a good sign.
And then I did something I have been doing a lot of lately, I said a silent prayer to the Universe for her, and for my brother and his wife, that their kids be protected from the autism epidemic.
I’m putting up the link to David Kirby’s new piece so you can hop over and give it a read. As usual, it’s a good one.
I’ll leave you with this comment I made on DK’s last HuffPo piece:
Mr. Kirby,
It really is like watching a great boxer take out his opponent – left hook, right hook, upper, another left. The opponent is swaggering under the onslaught. One great hit after the next. I dare say it won’t be long before the big guy falls flat on his face, a count is given, and an arm is raised in victory.
Thank you, again (and again) for your persistence and determination to get the truth out there to the masses. You are, as I’ve said before, a hero to many (myself included).
Jeanne

Oh my gosh… Does your family understand and believe that your Charlie has been damaged by vaccines?
My husbands brother and his wife are going to have their much waited for 2nd child, their daughter has petit mal epilepsy.
I have forward her way too much info regarding vaccines.
My Mom and my husbands Mom give us the evil eye when we dare to suspect that our child was not born this way. They think that I am delusional. Oh well.

Karen,
My sister just informed her daughter’s ped that she would not be vaccinating according to the current schedule. She gets it.
My brother and his wife are first time parents… I’m not sure what they believe as we do not discuss the matter.
I am sure the subject will come up as the baby’s birth gets closer.

I just read the post by David Kirby concerning vaccination. I quizzically raised an eyebrow at the “I’m still trying to figure out where David is getting the 1-50 figure from 2%. It seems to me 2% would be 2 in 100.” Hilarious. Anyhoo….what vaccines in particular are being questioned, or is it the issue of receiving them at the same time? I’ve had every vaccine there is and have no choice about it, obviously. I am certainly interested concerning the baby though.
