UPDATE: Wow, way to come together and lay down some loans!!  Over $400 (and that’s not the final number kids)!!  Thanks to everyone who has participated thus far!  If you didn’t get a chance to chip-in on a Cinco De Linco loan, NO WORRIES… Petra (OurJourney…OnTheWayToBetter) came up with the brilliant idea to extend Cinco De Linco Day through the weekend… So it’s another bender guys… you know how much we love a bender!  Our last bender (HERE) brought in $700… I think we can top that this weekend.  Shall we go for $1000?  Please send out a notice to everyone you know that Cinco De Linco is going on all weekend, and please encourage them to pop over to Lend4Health and LOAN $5 (or MORE) to the kids!  Every loan helps!  Let’s do this thing!

Can you believe I’ve been doing Cinco De Linco Loans for Lend4Health for seven months now?  Isn’t that wild?!?  I remember when this all started…. HERE.  We’ve all been able to help so many kids in need.  It’s a wonderful feeling.  Heck, my family has been on the receiving end of your generosity, and we are ever so grateful!

Our most recent (and second) loan was funded in just a couple of days.  Unreal.  We have since received the money, paid for Charlie’s testing, and are all set to send in our first repayment.  While our loan was up, Michelle O’Neil wrote a post on her blog Full-Soul-Ahead (one of the best blogs out there, IMHO) about Lend4Health.  I was really struck by what she wrote:

Todd and I have been lucky. Thus far we’ve been able to afford everything Riley needs. Knowing interventions for autism were available, hearing that time clock tick, knowing windows of opportunity to help our child were shrinking, and being unable to afford bio-med treatments? I would have gone out of my freaking mind.

Lend4HealthLend 4 Health provides interest-free micro-loans for the biomedical treatment of people with autism. Leave it to those in the autism community to come up with a way to circumvent the fact medical insurance doesn’t cover our kids! Screw ‘em! We’ll find our own way.

For those who see autism all around and don’t know how they can help, this is an easy way to do something. A couple of clicks and you’re on your way. As we saw with Riley’s service dog effort, collective efforts add up quickly, and make a huge difference in the lives of those living with autism.

Next time you see someone with autism and wish you could help, consider making a loan to Lend4Health.

Remember, we’re talking about micro loans; that means everyone, even in these tough financial times, can pitch in and help.  Micro loans give new meaning to the phrase, “Every little bit helps.”

My goal this month is $600 – that’s $100 for each kid.  We can do that… right!?!?  I’m going to track how many loans Cinco De Linco generates, so please make sure you designate the loan as a Cinco De Linco loan.  You can do this on the PayPal page where you review your payment.  Just under the description you’ll see “Add special instructions to merchant” – click there.  A box will pop up where you can type in a message designating your contribution as a “Cinco De Linco Loan” – or “Happy Cinco De Linco Day!” – whatever you want, as long as you include the words, “Cinco De Linco.”
