27919855_scaled_345x453Wow, what a month it has been.? After the tornado destroyed our home, we moved in with my parents and have been trying to get the rebuilding process started.? Thankfully, our new roof went on yesterday; so the house is now dry.? The next step is to obtain a building permit so we can get to work.

I’ve been meeting with contractors to get bids on the job.? As soon as we have the permits, we can get started with framing, plumbing, electrical, insulation, drywall, painting, and flooring.? Sounds easy enough when you say it like that.? Although we have been assured we won’t be in the house until January 2010.

Charlie is doing pretty darned good considering the trauma of the situation.? He made the transition to living with his grandparents fairly smoothly.? We did have a situation where he drew a picture at school: (more…)

Autism Rate Now at One Percent of All US Children?
By: David Kirby

A pair of federally funded studies on autism rates is about to make news — big news — and it isn’t good: It would appear that somewhere around one percent of all US children currently have an autism spectrum disorder. p style=”text-align: left;”>240884This month I’m going to have to do things a little different than past Cinco De Linco Loan Days.? You see, my husband has been called back to work after being home and taking care of the damage the tornado caused.? Because he won’t be around tomorrow, I am left to take care of insurance people, contractors, roofers, tree people, packers, and anyone else who might wander into my destroyed home. (more…)

Mother Nature is a Bitch

Saturday, August 1st, 2009

THE_WIZARD_OF_OZTo my readers:

Two days ago a tornado ripped through our neighborhood and destroyed our home in the process.? We are currently salvaging what we can from the soaked belongings floating around in our home.? My parents are putting us up at their place for the next 4 months, or however long it takes our insurance company to coordinate the repairs and rebuilding.

I will probably be taking this week to get my life, and that of my family’s, back in order; and then I will be back.

Thank you to everyone for their support and love.? We couldn’t have made it through this trauma without all of you.

The autism community is the best!!!
