Front and Center: Follow-Up on Rep. Maloney’s Autism-Vaccine Briefing

Managing Editor’s Note: Many people worked hard to make this post possible. Thank you to David Kirby and Mark Blaxill, Kelli Ann Davis of Generation Rescue, John Gilmore of Autism Action Network and several others. Please read the post carefully, there’s a call to action. It requires some thought and will take some time. Our kids are worth it.

Warrior Help Is Needed and Necessary!

On September 24, 2008 our community experienced a monumental and potentially game changing moment. Thanks to the organized efforts of our dedicated community, there was standing room only at the Autism-Vaccine Briefing hosted by Rep. Maloney and presented by David Kirby and Mark Blaxill. (more…)

On Opening The Floodgates:

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

I was invited by Kim Stagliano to write a piece for Age of Autism regarding the comments Charlie has made about what autism is like for him.  Initially I was thrilled… I mean, who wouldn’t want to be published on Age of Autism!?!?  It’s like finding the freaking golden ticket!

But, as I began working on the piece, I found I continually came up with other tasks to complete.  I was confused.  This was (is!) a big deal for me.  Age of Autism is… well… I’ll just tell you what I told Kim:  Age of Autism has been my companion through some very dark times.  It has been a beacon of light in an otherwise very dark tunnel.  I have met some very cool people on AoA, I’ve learned some lessons, I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, and I’ve yelled in anger.  So how could it be that I was given the honor of being published on my favorite site; but, trimming my toenails seemed to be more important?  Sickness.  That is what it was. And The Winner Of The Stag-Suit Is…..

Comment number 12…. Petra!!  Email your address to me and I’ll ship the suit right out! :-)   Congratulations!

For everyone who did not win, you can catch your next chance on Petra’s site,!  Good luck!  I can’t wait to see what happens next… and after that… and after that!

Win Kim Stagliano’s Ugly Bathing Suit!

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

So, remember when I told you all how I had won Kim Stagliano’s Ugly-Suit (aka birth control) (HERE)?  Well, I received the suit from Michelle O’Neil over at Full-Soul-Ahead a few days ago.  If at all possible, the suit is more shiteous than in the photographs; although, to be honest, my daughter and I both agree the suit could have been cute if only they had stopped with one or two colors, or stuck with either stripes, flowers, or decorative shapes… just not all of them, along with every color of the rainbow… plus gold.  Oy.  I guess what we’re saying is the suit could have been cute if it had been a completely different suit. Thank You Kim and AoA For This Story!

I’m trying to remember the first time I saw Aidan Quinn (the hunky, IMO, actor)…  Reckless maybe, my senior year of high school?  Maybe it was his role as Dez in Desperately Seeking Susan a year later?  Anyway, I’ve always had a soft spot for Aidan Quinn; today, that soft spot grew a lot bigger.  As I said, thanks Kim for posting this info on Age of Autism!

The Mighty Quinn
September 18, 2008
Edited by Debbie McGoldrick

IRISH American actor Aidan Quinn – emphasizing the Irish part, as he spent a chunk of his childhood in Ireland and has worked on several films there – spoke to the Sunday Independent last week about lots of interesting matters, both career and personal. But he really stood out when talking about his 19-year-old autistic daughter who doesn’t speak. (more…)

I’ve Never Won Anything In My Entire Life…

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Until now.  Not sure if any of you follow the Sisterhood of the Traveling Ugly Stag-Suit.  If not, you can see its history HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE.  If so… guess who just found out she’s the BIG WINNER of the suit?  That’s right, yours truly!  Thanks for picking me Michelle (What did I ever do to you? Geez.)

So I’ve never won anything in my entire life.  Nothing.  And now, as if God is playing some cruel joke on me, I win this… not a car, not the lotto, not a house, not a years worth of something useful… this:

And Speaking of Age of Autism…

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Kim Stagliano put up a great piece HERE.  I highly recommend you hop over and read it.  While you’re at it, pay attention to the this comment from Anne Dachel, Media Editor for AoA:

Excellent as always Kim! And I’d like to remind everyone who brings up polio that at the height of the epidemic in the 1950s, polio affected one in 3,000 Americans. And while some victims of polio died, most recovered and went on to lead productive lives. The same won’t be said about the victims of the autism epidemic. They will need support and care for life. That’s something that every politician should care about.

My DK Day

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

Friday I was emailing with the Managing Editor of Age of Autism, the glorious Kim Stagliano (KS! You rock!).  I was requesting a link be removed from a comment I had made calling out Lisa Rudy (, Dr. David Gorski (aka Orac), and Ken Reibel (aka AutismNewsBeat, HeraldBlog, and ANB), and pointing out the fact that Lisa Rudy links to her site in order to increase traffic, which in turn puts money in her pocket. I inadvertently ended up linking to my own site from my comment, which to me seemed just a bit hypocritical… hence the email to Kim requesting the link be removed. (more…)

Kim-Bear Bobbit

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Kim Stagliano put a piece up on HuffPo regarding a big giant wiener… okay, it’s not really about a “wiener,” but the ignoramus Michael WEINER Savage and his moronic comments about kids with autism.

As I was reading the piece I kept thinking, “Damn, Kim’s like an angry Mama Bear protecting her cubs!”

You should definitely head over to The Huffington Post immediately and read the piece… leave a comment while you’re there to support Kim-Bear! ;-)

P.S.  When you’re done reading Kim’s piece and letting her know how great she is, come back here and answer this question for me:  Don’t you just love her?!?

P.P.S.  The first (and only) time I saw Kim in person, she was wearing these oh-so-80′s white shades (hense why I put shades on the bear).

Tragic, Prevenatable

Please go to Kim Stagliano’s blog and read THIS post.  Follow the link in her post to THIS information.  And then read THIS.

And lastly, please do not put your daughter (or son!) anywhere near the Gardasil vaccine.  Please.
